Artist Statement

Limited medium on my palette is my preference – using heavy bodied acrylic paints where I often mix my own green and black colors. Using fewer paint colors allows me to explore how even a slight difference in shade can change tone and temperature.

That exploration works with my preferred subject – New England Life. I paint landscapes, animals and anything that inspires me to capture singular or solitary subjects or a flourish of flowers or architecturally appealing structures – still life’s with a splash of muted romance – often images that we may look at frequently but simply take for granted.

I find myself daydreaming of the good old days. In the world we live can still be found beautiful subjects but the question is, do we see them? They are there, waiting to be noticed, then transferred to board or canvas with simple yet complex colors.
